Vicious Attacks

I may not be the best student at school (in fact I know I rank around 66), but I put froth a great amount of effort in improving myself academically. They will be days where I forget about homework assignments and I would rush to get them completed in first period. However, the bigger assignments - the ones that make a larger impact - I never forget about. I understand the importance of quizzes, tests, and projects. But I rather be tested on the knowledge I gather than be evaluated on how I got to that point. But, I get more irritated at teacher incompetence.

The other day I was checking my grades (rather my dad brought it to my attention), and I saw atrocious grades; one was a 13 overall. I made a plan to confront these teachers, but one of them was nowhere to be found. The other I caught and his excuse was forgetting to put the grades into the grade book. If a teacher won’t accept excuses, then students shouldn’t tolerate them either (or even have to deal with them). However, this teacher I had no particular beef against and I merely shrugged off the mistake.

It took until lunch the next day to resolve the other grade. This morning, I had mentally prepared myself to unleash fury on to this teacher. But as fate would have its way like a spoiled child, decides that this teacher to be not angry, but ‘disappointed’ at our last test grade (which had scored lower than usual, but I had to exclude myself from the lecture for I did what needed to be done to the point where I had to just ‘wing it’). Not to pour oil on the fire, I waited patiently to make my chance. I waited until my lunch period to re-enter her room and bring my grades to her attention. Turns out she couldn’t find the associated assignments. I leave and not until my foreign language did I find the assignments. Immediately I realized that she graded them and forgot to put the grade in the grade book. I was furious, but calm. I hatched a subtle way of getting back at this teacher. She had mentioned that there was no excuse of missing seven problems on the last test because she had gone over the material THE DAY prior to the test. I was absent that day and missed the fabulous lecture, so possibly I had reason to miss one or two questions. I asked which ones I missed, she searched, and replied not a single one. I eliminated excuses and displayed competence (while I admit showing some arrogance).

If a student doesn’t need an excuse, then the teacher shouldn’t fall back on them. However, I can forgive and let go because even I have caused problems to tire out a teacher.
